The release was announced in the Arkansas Barrel Heads and Purspirit communities on September 9 after the barrel reached Northwest Arkansas earlier than expected. ABH says the whiskey has been in the Coy Hill rickhouse since 2016 and describes the resulting bottle as more than 10 years old.
The bottle is Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye, selected by Arkansas Barrel Heads with Purspirit. ABH lists the proof at 131.7 and the price at $76.18 out the door. The group says a little more than 100 bottles will be available to members, but it has not yet published a final count or the actual claim post.
ABH’s early tasting note is short and direct: sweet powdered sugar and apple fritters, summed up as “dessert in a bottle.” That description should be treated as the group’s release note rather than an independent ArkansasLiquor.com tasting note until the bottle is actually tasted here.

Coy Hill Is the Location, Not the Product Name
Jack Daniel’s calls Coy Hill the highest point on the distillery grounds, and Barrel Houses 8 and 13 are part of that story. According to Arkansas Barrel Heads, this rye has been hanging out up there since 2016, soaking up plenty of time, heat and Tennessee attitude.
The important part is not to turn that into something it isn’t. This is not the 2021 Coy Hill High Proof release. What ABH has is a private-selection Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye that matured on Coy Hill. That is still a pretty fun detail—and probably one of the first things whiskey nerds are going to notice—but Coy Hill is where the barrel lived, not the official name on the bottle.

Jack Daniel’s made Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye a permanent expression in 2023. The distillery says the whiskey uses a mash bill of 70% rye, 18% corn and 12% malted barley, is charcoal mellowed before maturation and ages in new American white oak barrels.
Jack Daniel’s originally described the normal barrel-proof range as roughly 125 to 145 proof, which puts this 131.7-proof selection squarely within the established range even though the age ABH is claiming is much older than the typical age statement-free shelf presentation suggests.

The promotional art leans hard into a Die Hard parody: Nakatomi Plaza becomes a Jack Daniel’s barrelhouse, the bottle dominates the center, and ABH’s barrel-headed character swings through an explosion under the title “RYE HARD.” The tagline reads “Yippee-Rye-Yay, Motherproofer.”
That artwork gives the private pick its own identity, but the story should keep the branding lines clear. “Rye Hard” is the Arkansas Barrel Heads release theme.
