The Rock Town Story

The distillery that helped restart an Arkansas industry

Phil Brandon began pursuing the idea of an Arkansas distillery after leaving his corporate career in 2009. Rock Town opened in Little Rock the following year, becoming the state’s first legal distillery to begin operating after Prohibition.

The company built its identity around Arkansas agriculture, local production and a willingness to experiment. Corn and wheat sourced from Arkansas farmers have supported a portfolio that extends well beyond traditional bourbon.

Today, Rock Town is both a working distillery and a visitor destination, offering tours, cocktail classes, a tasting room and a full cocktail bar in downtown Little Rock.

Why Rock Town matters

Rock Town demonstrated that Arkansas-grown grain, Arkansas craftsmanship and creative whiskey production could earn attention far beyond the state’s borders.

From Grain to Bottle

An Arkansas-centered approach to spirits

Rock Town’s core identity connects Arkansas agriculture with hands-on production, barrel aging and a broad range of traditional and experimental spirits.

Arkansas Agriculture

Arkansas-grown corn and wheat connect many Rock Town products directly to farmers in the Natural State.

Hands-On Production

Milling, fermentation, distillation, barrel aging and bottling come together under the Rock Town name.

Arkansas Maturation

Arkansas seasons expose aging barrels to substantial temperature changes that influence extraction and maturation.

Creative Releases

Single barrels, unusual grains, special finishes and limited releases keep the portfolio changing throughout the year.

What Rock Town Makes

A portfolio much larger than bourbon

Bourbon & Whiskey

Arkansas Bourbon, Bottled in Bond bourbon, rye whiskey, four-grain bourbon, barley bourbon and distinctive flavor-grain releases.

Vodka, Gin & Moonshine

Traditional and flavored vodkas, multiple gin expressions and Arkansas Lightning moonshine expand the lineup beyond aged spirits.

Special Releases

Single-barrel whiskey, barrel-strength releases, rum, finished bourbon and craft liqueurs offer collectors and cocktail fans something different.

The Kentucky-Arkansas Connection

Understanding the Column Still Collection

To expand production, Rock Town developed a collaborative distilling program with Bardstown Bourbon Company in Kentucky. The program uses Rock Town recipes and Arkansas-grown grain supplied through its Arkansas grain partners.

These releases are distinct from spirits distilled at Rock Town’s Little Rock facility, making label details especially important when comparing different bottles and collections.
