Alan Myers of The Benevolent Barrel Thief (BBT) announced an official charity bottle event benefiting Special Olympics Arkansas, giving members the opportunity to support an incredible cause while securing a bottle of bourbon.

This official Special Olympics Arkansas event features 100 bottles of Buffalo Trace, with a portion of every bottle directly supporting athletes across the state.
Event Details
- Beneficiary: Special Olympics Arkansas
- Bottle: Buffalo Trace Bourbon
- Total Bottles Available: 100
- Limit: One bottle per member
- Cost: $40 per bottle
- Charitable Contribution: $15 from each bottle goes directly to the charity
Participation is simple: members are asked to comment “IN” on the official Facebook event post. Once the first 100 spots are filled, any additional participants will be placed on a backup list in the order they commented.
Instructions for submitting donations and picking up bottles will be shared once the list is finalized.

Miss the First 100? More Is Coming
BBT made it clear that this event doesn’t end with the initial 100 bottles. For members who don’t make the first round, additional bottle opportunities are already being planned.
The goal is to be creative and inclusive—raising as much money as possible for Special Olympics Arkansas while keeping the event fair and engaging for the entire BBT community.
A True Community Effort
This event represents another example of how Arkansas’ bourbon community rallies around meaningful causes. Special thanks were given to:
- BBT members who helped select the barrel
- Dane Ibsen at Oscar’s, for assisting with the event

Their support helps ensure these charity events run smoothly and have real impact.
Whiskey With a Purpose
The Benevolent Barrel Thief continues to set the standard for whiskey-driven philanthropy in Arkansas. As a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, BBT uses bottle events, raffles, and barrel picks to turn enthusiasm for bourbon into tangible support for organizations that make a difference.
Today’s Special Olympics Arkansas event is another reminder that great whiskey can do great things.
