107 Liquor’s latest single barrel release highlights one of Kentucky’s oldest and most storied distilleries — Green River Distilling Co., located in Owensboro, Kentucky. Known for its rye-forward mash bill and deep historical roots, this limited edition barrel pick brings over a century of craftsmanship into every pour.
Founded in 1885 by J.W. McCulloch, Green River was the 10th licensed distillery in Kentucky (DSP-KY-10) and quickly became known as “The Whiskey Without Regrets.”
The brand gained international fame at the turn of the 20th century, earning gold medals across Europe and even serving as the official medicinal whiskey of the U.S. Marine Hospital. According to historic accounts, twenty barrels of Green River were once traded for a stake in a Colorado gold mine — a testament to the whiskey’s early prestige.
The distillery’s journey wasn’t always smooth. A catastrophic fire in 1918, followed by Prohibition and decades of ownership changes, nearly erased the Green River name from bourbon history.
Its modern revival began in 2016, when the long-silent distillery was renovated and reopened by Terressentia Corporation (under the O.Z. Tyler name). By 2020, the historic Green River name was proudly restored, and in 2022 it became part of Bardstown Bourbon Company, itself backed by Pritzker Private Capital.
Today, the Owensboro site once again operates as a cornerstone of Kentucky bourbon, producing more than 90,000 barrels per year and welcoming thousands of visitors annually.
This exclusive Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon showcases what makes Green River special — heritage grain, clay-tile rickhouses, and the craftsmanship of barrel-by-barrel selection.
Mash Bill: 70% corn | 21% rye | 9% malted barley
Age: Minimum 5 years
Proof: Cask Strength – barrels typically range 110–130 proof
Origin: Owensboro, Kentucky
Barrel Type: New American Oak, char #4
Expect a rye-forward profile that balances classic Kentucky sweetness with spice and structure. Each barrel tells its own story — the 107 Liquor pick delivers rich notes of caramel, toasted oak, and vanilla, layered with hints of baking spice and warm brown sugar on the finish. It’s a robust yet approachable bourbon that reflects Green River’s commitment to quality and consistency.
Visitors to Owensboro can tour the Green River Distillery, now a proud member of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Experiences include guided tastings, cocktail classes, and even “barrel-thieving” straight from the cask. The distillery remains one of the few in Kentucky to age its whiskey in traditional clay-tile rickhouses, maintaining a stable temperature and humidity ideal for slow, even maturation.
For Arkansas bourbon fans, this release marks another example of how local stores are connecting with national heritage distilleries to bring truly distinctive whiskey to the state.
The 107 Liquor Green River Single Barrel captures the authenticity of Kentucky craftsmanship — from its pre-Prohibition roots to its modern rebirth — and offers Arkansans a rare taste of a brand once thought lost to history.
