The operation is owned by Greg and Vicki Schneider, who also run the neighboring Railway Winery. Because both businesses share the same property, visitors are able to explore wine and spirits in a single destination, which makes the experience especially memorable.
Although the distillery is small, it has steadily built a strong reputation for handcrafted spirits, traditional techniques, and a distinctive Ozark personality. As a result, Butler Creek has become a popular stop for travelers who want an authentic taste of Arkansas craft distillation.
Greg leads the distillery side of the operation. Since he has a hands-on background in technical trades and agricultural work, he approaches distilling with both precision and creativity. Over the years, he has designed the recipes, mash bills, and barrel profiles that define the distillery’s lineup. As a result, most visitors comment on his passion and accessibility during tastings.
Meanwhile, Vicki founded and operates Railway Winery, the tasting-room hub for both wine and spirits. Because she manages the guest experience, tastings tend to feel warm, personal, and unhurried. Together, Greg and Vicki created one of the only dual winery-distillery destinations in Arkansas, which sets Butler Creek apart from most other producers in the state.
Butler Creek Distilling officially began whiskey production around 2019. Since then, the Schneiders have maintained a grain-to-glass, small-batch approach. Their spirits emphasize clean distillation, straightforward ingredients, and the rugged simplicity of the Ozark region. Although the facility is modest in size, it reflects a commitment to quality over volume. Consequently, many of their offerings are available only on-site or in limited regional circulation.

New Moon is a clear, traditional moonshine-style spirit that is double-distilled for smoothness. As a result, it works equally well neat or mixed with fruit-forward cocktails.
Clawfoot Gin blends two varieties of juniper with angelica root, coriander, and lemon peel. Because of this balanced botanical mix, the gin lands somewhere between classic London-dry crispness and a softer citrus finish.
Full Moon is one of their signature spirits. It uses a high-rye bourbon mash and is aged in barrels on-site. Consequently, it offers a warm, spicy profile paired with a bold Ozark character.
This rum is made from molasses, cane sugar, and honey. Afterward, it is barrel-aged, which adds depth, caramel sweetness, and a layered finish uncommon in most Arkansas-made rums.
The rye mash bill—roughly 80% rye and 20% malted barley—produces a spicy, grain-forward flavor. Since it is available in both unaged and aged versions, visitors can easily compare how barrel time changes the spirit.
These agave spirits are distilled from 100% Weber Blue Agave. Because they are crafted similarly to tequila, the Silver expression is crisp and clean, while the Reposado develops richer notes after resting in barrels.
Visiting Butler Creek Distilling offers a unique combination of winery charm and craft-spirits exploration. Since the tasting room is operated through Railway Winery, guests are encouraged to sample across both sides of the property. Additionally, the quiet Ozark setting and outdoor patio create a relaxed atmosphere that appeals to travelers, locals, and weekend explorers.
