Alan Myers has announced the next upcoming charity raffle for The Benevolent Barrel Thief, revealing plans for a fundraising event benefiting the Arkansas Special Olympics.
The concept for the event was brought forward by Britton Marshall, with organizers setting a fundraising goal of $5,000 to $10,000. Additional details and full raffle mechanics are expected to be released soon.
In the meantime, members were encouraged to begin vouching in additional participants who are interested in contributing to the cause and who will enjoy sharing in the group’s passion for good bourbon, referencing the group’s established vouching process.
Bottle Donations & Raffle Structure
Alan Myers also shared that the group is actively seeking bottle donations for the raffle. Members willing to donate a bottle were asked to contact either Alan Myers or Tyler Shinabery directly. Depending on the bottle donated, contributors would receive a corresponding number of raffle tickets.
At the time of the announcement, the following details were shared:
- 15 allocated bottles already secured
- A goal of reaching approximately 30 bottles
- All raffle prizes will be complete giveaways
- Winners will owe nothing for the bottles
The announcement emphasized that this event would be a true charitable giveaway, reinforcing The Benevolent Barrel Thief’s mission of raising money for worthy causes while enjoying bourbon as a shared hobby.

💬 Quote from Tyler Shinabery — January 13, 2023
**“Greetings Guys and Gals! It’s a new day, a new year, and I’m feeling good!
When Alan and I started spitballing the idea for this group, our original thought was simple. Do good and do it locally. THAT SIMPLE.
When we ran our first event in November we were blown away by the support of our relatively small group of initial members for the Arkansas Food Bank. We’d hoped we’d eventually meet new members of our community and help support causes that are personal to them, aka us!
Literally before we closed the door on the first event, Britton reached out to us with a cause that was dear to his heart with at least a half dozen prizes ready and waiting! When he told us his passion was the Arkansas Special Olympics, needless to say, we were ALL IN.
Please take a minute to check out the pinned post from Alan Myers. ANY donation you are willing to make, makes a difference!
The goal: 5K! Every donation of 20 per gets a ticket, every cumulative donation of 100 gets you one ticket into a special drawing to be announced!
Maybe it’s a dry month for your body, but don’t let that hold back the benevolence of your heart!
Cheers BBTs!”**

**“@everyone Proud of you so far BBT members!
We are over 30% towards our goal of 5k already 🔥 let’s not let up now!!
Arkansas Special Olympics is hoping to construct a new legacy building this year for the over 20,000 youth athletes. This will offer opportunities for them to work on their sports, health awareness, and leadership skills.
Don’t forget to follow the rules on the initial raffle post from yesterday and screenshot your donations there 🙏🏼”**
🔔 Update from Ryan Britton — January 14, 2023
**“@everyone I wanted to take a moment to reach out and say thank you for your support. I greatly appreciate you donating to this event to raise money for Special Olympics Arkansas. I also wanted to give you a little bit of a background about Special Olympics and my involvement with it.
A lot of you have never met me, and I don’t usually post a lot about myself on social media, but I am a Police Officer in the state. I originally got involved with Special Olympics in 2016 when I was introduced to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. Officers all around our state participate in this event to champion acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities.
We also host fundraisers all over the state to raise money to support Special Olympics Arkansas in providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for those with intellectual disabilities. Arkansas is one of only a few states that fully funds the program to allow the athletes to participate at no cost to them or their families.
When I first got involved, I was unsure of what I was getting into, but when I went to my first sporting event and got to experience the athletes competing and being able to award the athletes medals, I was hooked. In Law Enforcement, we are in a different environment, but the environment changes completely when you are around the athletes and at these events. Hearing some of their stories and seeing where they have come from has been something that has truly inspired me.
Not only does this program focus on helping them with athletics, it teaches them sportsmanship and also has programs to help with public speaking. This program helps empower and transform the athletes.
My involvement and interaction with the athletes that I have made friends with has made me a better person. You’re not only helping Special Olympics Arkansas fund athletic events for the athletes. The funds raised also help officers who are involved with the program on a completely different level.
Y’all have been killing it so far and we are getting close to that 5k goal for the special bottle. Since we are getting close I am going to let you know what it is.
Aaron Chepenik and Nevada H&C Distilling Co were so kind to donate a bottle of Smoke Wagon Rare and Limited Special Batch Small Batch, bottle 301/342. I’m sure this will be an amazing bottle!
Don’t forget to go back to the original post to donate and comment a picture of your donation!”**
