Deatsville vs #2: 8-year 134.1 proof vs 10-year 137.9 proof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nose:<\/strong> Deatsville shows oak, slight cherry, and more ethanol than #2. #2 brings oak and tobacco, with more sweetness\u2014maybe honey or caramel\u2014along with slight cherry and a hint of floral notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Palate:<\/strong> Deatsville leans toward ethanol, oak, and a peppery fruit character. #2 delivers sweet oaky tobacco followed by a cinnamon-driven spice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Finish:<\/strong> Deatsville finishes spicier and more peppery with a nice tongue tingle that sweetens as it lingers. #2 also has a long-lasting tingle, with flavors that just seem to hang out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Overall:<\/strong> Both are really nice bourbons. I love the nose on #2\u2014it feels more complex and, yes, smoother than the Deatsville despite the higher proof. I\u2019m glad I was able to get both, but I\u2019d absolutely love a second bottle of #2.
