Selected by John Crow and the tasting team at 107 Liquor<\/strong>, this joint barrel pick features two distinct barrels<\/strong>, each offering a unique expression of Jack Daniel\u2019s barrel proof whiskey. Portions of both barrels have been allocated exclusively to members of BCA and Spa City Bourbon Club, with approximately 100 bottles per club<\/strong> split evenly between the two selections, subject to final barrel yield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            JDSib BP (JDBP): A joint pick with 107 Liquor Store and Spa City Bourbon Club<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            THE DETAILS:<\/strong>
            John Crow & his team at 107 Liquor recently selected TWO barrels of JDBP<\/strong> for his store. He has graciously offered to share a portion with BCA & Spa City members exclusively<\/strong>. Each club will be allotted approximately 100 bottles<\/strong> (50 from each barrel) (subject to change based on final barrel yield).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            For this point on, these will be referred to simply as JDBP Sample #1<\/strong> and JDBP Sample #2<\/strong>. Barrels are around 5\u20136 years old<\/strong>, proofed between 125\u2013130<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            (IN) POST:<\/strong>
            MONDAY AUGUST 30TH @ 7PM.<\/strong> At that time, you may commit to UP TO 1 BOTTLE FROM EITHER\/BOTH BARRELS<\/strong>. AKA, max of 1 bottle PER barrel PER person at this time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            If we exceed our allotment of 50 per barrel, we will randomize the member commitments for each barrel that this applies to in order to secure your spot on the BCA\/Spa City presale. For example, if we commit to 60 bottles of Sample #1, the 60 names will be put into a randomizer and the top 50 names will secure a bottle. If we commit to 45 bottles in a given barrel, then the 45 people have their spot secured without need to randomize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Please don\u2019t double dip if you are in both groups, we will be auditing the lists at the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            TASTING NOTES:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            JDBP SAMPLE #1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Spa City Taster<\/em>
            Nose:<\/strong> Banana bread with walnuts, sticky toffee, touch of char.
            Palate:<\/strong> This tasted, to me, older than it is. The flavors are well integrated and took sitting with it for a minute or two to tease out. I get toasted marshmallow, vanilla, and more banana bread. A little roasted nuttiness. The Jack Daniel\u2019s structure is definitely there, but this goes in an unexpected, but satisfying, direction. Very tasty.
            Finish:<\/strong> On the long side of medium but I wouldn\u2019t call it a long finish. A toasted char lingers a bit after the vanilla and banana bread sweetness fades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            BCA Taster<\/em>
            Nose:<\/strong> Burnt caramel, sweet maple syrup, a backside funk that is not unpleasant, almost a cheese note, underlying nutty note.
            Palate:<\/strong> Slight burn, bit of fruit (apricot), charred oak. That funk is back but in a good way and the cheese note. Nuttiness is prevalent.
            Finish:<\/strong> Medium finish, but with a very unusual but pleasant aftertaste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            JDBP SAMPLE #2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Spa City Taster<\/em>
            Nose:<\/strong> More banana, but less like baked bread; more like a banana dessert. Vanilla, honey, a little cinnamon or similar spice.
            Palate:<\/strong> On this sample the flavors came more in waves for me: banana pudding, vanilla wafers, caramel, and then an intense blend of citrus and baking spice. Proof came through more on this one for me. Also a very good dram.
            Finish:<\/strong> Medium-long. Starts sweet, finishes spicy (as in a citrus burn with cinnamon and nutmeg).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            BCA Taster<\/em>
            Nose:<\/strong> Banana foster, vanilla sugar wafer, caramel.
            Palate:<\/strong> Caramel sugar bomb, creamy butterscotch notes mixed with cinnamon graham cracker\u2014very easy drinker, really tasty.
            Finish:<\/strong> Longer finish. Wonderful mouthfeel and fantastic aftertaste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            OVERALL:<\/strong>
            Spa City Taster:<\/em> Close, but JDBP Sample #1 was my favorite.
            BCA Taster:<\/em> Close\u2014JDBP Sample #2 got my vote, but not by much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
